Once upon a time in Kadipaten Purbalingga,

lived Adipati Kertabangsa with his wife and his son,

Raden Kaligenteng.

One day, the adipati held a meeting.

They discussed about giving Raden Kaligenteng his throne

but he must have KERIS BRONGOT SETAN KOBER.

“Kaligenteng, I entrust the Keris to ki Gede Ngorean,

he is in Sendang Bolong.”Adipati said.

“If so I will meet and ask him the Setan Kober.”

Kaligenteng said.

“Be careful, my son.”

 

What happened in Sendang Bolong then?

“Ki Gede Ngorean, I ask Keris Brongot Setan Kober now” Kaligenteng said

“Sorry Raden, I have entrusted it to Adipati Jebuh Kusuma in Kadipaten Sokaraja.” Ki gede ngorean said.

Raden Kaligenteng was very furious, and they fight

Ki Gede Ngorean escaped and asked Jebuh Kusuma’s help.

“Kanjeng Adipati, please help me.”

“Kaligenteng chased me for Keris Brongot Setan Kober.”

Ki Gede ngorean said.

“Hi Adipati, give me Keris Brongot Setan Kober.”

Raden Kaligenteng said followed.

Raden Kaligenteng asked him impolitely.

The Adipati was very angry and kicked him

they fight inside the river

Kaligenteng changed into pelus, A long bodied fish.

Then the river is called KALI PELUS

Adipati Jebuh Kusuma meditated inside that river after then.

It was in the kenanga smell pool,

It is why the pool is called KEDUNG KENANGA.

During his meditation, Adipati’s wife gave birth to a son,

He was named R. Kuncung.

Year by year passed by,

R. Kuncung begged permission to meet his father,

In the pool he told his father, “father, I am Kuncung, your son.”

R. Kuncung  said.

“Well, here you are Keris Brongot Setan Kober.”

Adipati Jebuh Kusuma said.

He also told his son about R. Kaligenteng.

“Father I will revenge R. Kaligenteng”, R. Kuncung said.

“you are my best son.” Adipati said.

Then R. Kuncung was guised as dalang MERTAKANDA, to continuously look for R. Kaligenteng,

In Kademangan Watukumpul, Kaligenteng approached putri Demang,

but the young lady refused him.

After Ki Demang knew

that Kaligenteng was Adipati Purbalingga son,

He permitted him to live there.

One day, Ki Demang had an idea to open a market

with Wayang show,

The dalang was Mertakanda.

In the show,

Somebody asked him to tell the history of

Sokaraja & Purbalingga.

It turned out that the man

who beg was Kaligenteng.

After the dalang began to tell the story

Kaligenteng was very happy

But he offended by a thing

He screamed, “hi dalang. Stop and get down.”

Kaligenteng said.

“you, you are Kaligenteng,

I am R. Kuncung,

Adipati Jebuh Kusuma’s son.”

R. Kuncung said.

Then R. Kuncung took Keris Brongot Setan Kober

and stabbed him in the chest.

R. Kaligenteng changed into a giant snake.

Then he left back to Purbalingga.

Adipati Kertabangsa asked, “oh what happened?”

Then R. Kaligenteng told the happening.

Adipati Kertabangsa said,

“there must be a misunderstanding.”

Finally, the 2 Kadipaten forgave one another.

Kuncung and Kaligenteng continued their parents

To become good and wise Adipati

In Sokaraja and Purbalingga.
